The Event to Prevent

Last week I covered the 5th Annual Candies Foundation Event to Prevent. It was a fund-raiser to help raise awareness about the consequences of teen pregnancy. I kinda thought that it was obvious what the consequences of being pregnant are. I hope some of the money goes to teaching sex ed in health class.

Mischa Barton

Mischa Barton was there in this ensemble. It was a cocktail attire event at Cipriani on 42nd st. 'nuff said.

Emma Stone

Emma stone of the film Superbad was there. I loved that movie. I still laugh when I think about it. It was however in large part about teens on a quest to get laid. Maybe they thought she would speak the the demographic of teens that don't have any use for birth control.

Jason Lewis

This next person's presence just baffled me. It is sex symbol "Smith Jarred" from Sex and the City. He is famous for being in a show that has sex right in the title. All those girls do is sit around at brunch and talk about how much sex they had, or would like to be having. How is that good for teen pregnancy?

Jason is a very charming man. I have met him before, and of all the stars I have ever spoken to he is, pants down, the most beguiling. And that is my point.

Neil Cole and Jason Lewis

Because this was a Candies event Neil Cole was very visible through out the night. He is the CEO of Iconix Brand Group. They own tons of stuff including but not limited to: Candies, Bongo, Badgley Mischka, Joe Boxer, Rampage, Mudd, Mossimo and Danskin.

I don't see any maternity clothing makers in there. I think I figured it out. Keep your market share (skinny teen girls) viable, and create a 501(c)(3) to get mad tax breaks while doing it. Genius!

James Taylor and Jason Lewis

Now here are two people that you never thought about together. Like peanut butter and all-weather radial tires. Never do those two things inhabit the same thought. Well celebrity makes strange bedfellows.

James Mischka, and Mark Badgley

Badgley Mischka, part of the Iconix family where there.

Kenneth Cole

Neil Cole's Brother, Kenneth was there to show his support.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift (a teen) was there looking all sparkley. She had a matching bedazzled guitar. I had no idea who she was. They told me that she was a country star, or something. Honestly, I still don't know. I do however know that this is the best use of a Slinky as an accessory (in this case a belt) that I have ever seen.

Ali Lohan

Another teen, Ali Lohan, also showed her support for not getting knocked up too soon. She was there with her mom.

Darrell Hammond

Darrell Hammond was the MC. There were some Bill Clinton jokes, it was pretty tame.

The party was at Cipriani on 42nd st. They decked the place out in purple and pink. That is one of my favorite event spaces in the city. The high ceilings give the designers so many options with the lighting.

All told it was a very well attended event.

Get Down Saturday Night

I have had this song in my head for a couple of days.

It was used by Daft Punk as a sample.

It's very catchy.

It's Get Down Saturday Night by Oliver Cheatham

God's Love We Deliver Volunteer Party

The volunteer party for God's Love is tonight, I am so excited. This is hands down the best party of the year.

If you are lucky enough to be invited, I will see you tonight. If not you will have to see the pictures later and be sad that you weren't there.

Here is a little video about God's Love We Deliver. Warning: It will make you cry.

Parsons Benefit Part 2

If you are not much of a fashionista, but want to act like you know more then you really do (cause really who doesn't like to be a bit of a know it all?) then drop the names of either of the next two designing duos. You will earn yourself some quick cred.

David Neville and Marcus Wainwright

The boys above design Rag and Bone; well fabricated, timeless basics with a bit of an edge. Everyone loves their clothes. They were school mates in England and have now taken NY by storm with great jeans and fantastic shirts.

Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra

This next pair design Cotello Tagliapietra.

This bearish couple live in Brooklyn, and look they they got lost on the way to the bathroom at the Rawhide on 8th ave, and ended up in the pages of Vogue.

In fact here is Vogue's quote about the pair:

"Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra, an unexpected team of Brooklyn guys who make nothing but the best dresses."

James Perse and Donna Karan

From the cuddly to the kissable; me. At least that is what Donna Karan thinks.

She wanted to see some of the shots I took of her, at the sight of one in particular, she planted a kiss on my cheek.

What can I say, the woman has built an empire on her good taste.

Alber Elbaz and Howard Socol

On to the awards portion of the evening. Alber Elbaz presented and award to Howard Socol. They were so funny together on stage. It was a love fest.

Diane von Furstenberg

Meanwhile Diane von Furstenberg waited in the wings. She is one of those people that just does not take a bad picture; amazing.

Oscar de la Renta

Speaking of amazing, Oscar de la Renta was sitting next to Anna Wintour, at the same table as André Leon Talley.

What a great audience for the students to have at their first fashion show. They worked hard to get to that point, and when they did their bow, you could tell how excited they were to have the chance show their work to a room full of important designers, editors and retailers.

Parson's Benefit Part 1

I photographed the Parson's Annual Benefit and Fashion Show last week for WWD and DNR, and it was filled with some crazy fabulous people.

There was a reception, awards ceremony, dinner, and a fashion show of the students work to round out the evening.

Diane von Furstenberg

Diane von Furstenberg was one of the honorees. The award was presented to her by none other then America's boyfriend Anderson Cooper.

Anderson Cooper

Anderson Cooper and Diane von Furstenberg

In Anderson's intro of DVF he mentioned that the two of them hang out. Apparently they were hiking together in a rain forest the weekend before.

Not in New Jersey, or upstate? NO. A rain forest.

If you have a crush on Anderson (it's OK, a lot of people do.) A word of advice, make sure you like to schlep and look fetching in gore tex.

Tim Gunn

Speaking of fetching, another silver fox, Tim Gunn was there, giving Anderson a run for his money.

Natalie Massenet

Online retailer Natalie Massenet showed her support for the school and her taste in accessories .

Carl and Iris Apfel

And on the topic of accessories. I saw some of the women in the room eyeing this necklace-it eyed them back.

I loved the his and hers Sylvia Weinstock glasses in tortoise. The glasses made me hopeful that there might be a fantastic cake later in the evening.

Alas, there were just more fashion people and celebs.

Jan-Hendrick Schlottmann and Derek Lam

The very sweet (but not at all cake-like) Jan-Hendrick Schlottmann and Derek Lam, of Derek Lam were there.

Narciso Rodriguez and Donna Karan

The event had a lot of big name designers as evidenced by this two shot of Narciso Rodriguez and Donna Karan.

So many in fact that I am going to split this post in two parts.
